AP is managed by an international team of Trustees and Executives and is supported by its volunteers.
Trustees
Rev Stephen Hollyhead: Chairman
A Clergyman and a former Dietician and Nutrition Lecturer, Rev Stephen joined Action for Poverty Board of Trustees in 2007 and has been chairman since 2008. Rev Stephen networks at all levels on behalf of the charity, makes regular parish appeals for funds, and raises awareness with any potential supporter. Rev Stephen is determined to ensure sustained growth of the charity year on year to enable us to help poorest people around the world.
Petra Murray: Treasurer
A career culminating with National Health Trust UK, Petra has been Action for Poverty’s Treasurer since 2007. Her role is to monitor the charity’s financial position to ensure that funds are managed appropriately and prudently, with the interests of the world poorest people always our first priority. She also prepares our annual accounts for audit.
Scott Martin: Trustee
Scott joined our Board of Trustee and has supported Action for Poverty since the beginning. His business experience in global container shipping including trades to Africa is complemented by his extensive experience of governance including the not-for-profit sector. He is the Chairman of our Health and Safety Committee and regularlymakes appeals..
Staff
Sarah Adams: Executive Director
Sarah first became involved with the charity in 2007 and worked as interim Executive Director from early in 2008. She spent many years in client management for Marketing and Communications agencies, eventually co-founding her own company. Subsequently she has worked at director and managing director level as a consultant helping organisation to remain competitive during times of change, initiating marketing strategies and improving organisations’ structure through streamlining and development.

Maria Johnson: Overseas Programmes Director
Maria has undertaken various consultant works for the charity, most notably in 2008 when she travelled to Africa in search of new partners, many of whom are still working with Action for Poverty today. In addition to heading up the programmes department, Maria will be reviewing our work in Africa and looking towards the future.

Savina George: Fundraising Manager
Savina started her fundraising career with Marie Curie Cancer Care in 1993, and then went on to work for Macmillan Cancer Relief and Victim Support. A keen runner, she has completed both the London and New York Marathons, the Inca Trail and the Sahara Trek. She is currently keen to climb Mt Kilimanjaro for Action for Poverty in 2011.

Carolyn Cooper: Support Group Co-ordinator
Carolyn Cooper is a part-time member of staff in the Fundraising Team. Carolyn looks after our amazing support groups across the UK, as well as helping with the organisation and management of events and community projects. Following more than two years as a volunteer, Carolyn now works one day a week and volunteers on other days.

Davina Rogers: Fundraiser
Davina joined the team in 2008 after fundraising for Age Concern England and The Suzy Lamplugh Trust. She previously worked on fundraising events such as the London Marathon and parachuting, as well as applications to charitable trusts. She loves fundraising and is keen to share her experience and enthusiasm with the charity.
